「坂本龍一 the Decade of Ryuichi Sakamoto Part-1,80th Fieldwork」制作ノート 立岩潤三

"The Decade of Ryuichi Sakamoto Part-1, 80th Fieldwork" Production Notes by Junzo Tateiwa

Ryuichi Sakamoto's works from the 1980s—what could be called the "1st Decade" of his musical career—show the journey from his solo activities before joining YMO to his dramatic transformation into the globally known "Sakamoto". Musically, I found these works even more interesting than YMO's. The works incorporate a wide range of elements, from analog synthesizers and live instruments to sampling. Recreating them was challenging, but I think I managed to capture the atmosphere by using almost all the parameters available in the 05R/W sound module that can be controlled by a sequencer.

Please pay attention to Kazumi Watanabe's guitar part in the epic "1000 Knives", the transistor voice in "Paradise Lost", the jazz section in "Etude", and the reverse playback sound in the coda of "The End of Asia".

Well then, next is Part-2... (chuckling)
