Music data for 5 guitar centric songs that demonstrate advanced MIDI programming techniques that use the Roland SC-8850 and SC-8820 sound sources to the fullest. In addition, 10 MIDI files with guitar phrases are included, illustrating how realistic guitar playing can be re-created in MIDI data.
The original title of the release is "SC-8850／SC-8820徹底活用シリーズVol.2 -ギター打ちこみ編-". The translation used here is unofficial, as no English source has been found.
Unlike previous Roland MIDI data that were packaged in a CD-sized jewel case, this product was sold in a cardboard box with a blank jewel case and a liner notes sheet inside. This release is also of significance to MIDI data epicureans because it is the last of Roland's self-produced MIDI programming of commercial music sold on physical media to the consumer market for listening purposes, marking the end of the golden era of MIDI data. The gap in the usually sequential product codes, with RJK-9902J missing, could indicate that other productions were cancelled before being finalised. Roland would still make material for educational, promo, demo, karaoke and play-along purposes in the following years, such as the VIMA Tunes series.
